Lawrence is a double board-certified Attending Neurologist at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, trained at U.C.L.A. Medical Center, pursued research and training as a National Institutes of Health Fellow and previously was a general surgical intern and resident at the Icahn School of Medicine-Mt. Sinai affiliated hospitals., Manhattan, New York. Dr. Richman initiated and shepherded the SureCount Surgical accountability system from its inception and is the Manager of Sure Count Surgical, LLC.

Richard Bertran Senior Consultant – Executive Management

Rick has more than 30 years of experience in sales leadership, healthcare technology, manufacturing, and distribution, including as President of SurgiCount Medical, where he helped bring a computer-aided sponge counting device to prestigious early adopters.

Bill Adams Senior Consultant – Marketing and Business Development

Bill has extensive experience with developing medical device start-ups into successful companies, including A-Plus International, a global manufacturer of surgical dressings and infection control products. He was Chief Executive Officer of SurgiCount Medical during its initial commercialization efforts and continued as a strategic consultant through its acquisition by Stryker.

Gary Chilson Consultant – Quality and Regulatory Affairs

As a molecular biologist and microbiologist for over 15 years, Gary held laboratory and quality leadership positions at Johnson & Johnson, Bausch & Lomb, and Dupont Nutrition & Health. He continues to consult drug and device contract manufacturers on FDA regulatory compliance, quality systems development, and cGMP manufacturing best practices.

Elizabeth Shoaf, DNP, MSN, RN, CNOR, CSSM | Clinical Consultant

A registered nurse, Elizabeth, earned her degrees from Gardner-Webb University and Walden University. She has 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with professional skills including coordinating quality improvement initiatives, project management, supply chain improvement, utilization management, and staff development. Elizabeth was one of the first in the world to earn the CSSM certification, and she has been recognized as a “Great 100 Nurse” by North Carolina nurse peers and has served on the board of directors. She is a four-time published author in the AORN Journal and has presented at local and regional conferences.
